What You Can Expect To Find Here
Since you landed here I am assuming that you want to know more. My name is Marie, and I am currently the single author to this personal blog. More about me in the section below. The common theme in (almost) all posts is that I want to grow as a person and lead a more fulfilled and balanced life. To this end, I try to …
- … maximize the time spent on things that I find meaningful, such as creative endeavours and spending time with loved ones.
- … minimize the time spent on tasks that I think do not contribute to becoming a better person.
What I share with you here are insights I have gained along the way into maximizing life, and minimizing the distractions and inefficiencies that distract from personal growth and fulfillment. I occassionally post here when I have learned something worth sharing.
Topics You Can Expect:
- Posts on creative hobbies.
- Posts incorporating philosophical insights into everyday life.
- Posts on personal development, growth, and habit formation.
- Posts on Marie Kondo, as I (and my now much cleaner apartment) recently rediscovered her work.
- Posts on minimalism, as I believe the underlying mindset helps understand what is essential and what is not.
- Short fiction stories (I mean really short).
About Me
I am a twenty-something year old Dutch person who recently picked up blogging again after graduating from a master’s in Computer Science and Engineering. The reasons? There are plenty, but here are a few main ones:
- I have been meaning to start a blog for years, but kept coming up with excuses.
- I enjoy finding new ways to grow personally, mentally and physically. It would be awesome if I could inspire at least one other person in the process – so let’s get better together! š„š„š„
- It took me a while to find an interesting job, so I had some time on my hands.
The blog you are reading now has been around since 2015. I started this blog when I was 19 years old, posting to it well into 2016. 8 years later, in 2024, I rediscovered it. In those 8 years my life has changed completely:
- I finished my gap year working in Watford (UK) and Narrogin (Australia).
- I started a bachelor in Psychology and Technology, and quit after a year.
- I finished a studies in Philosophy and followed it up with Computer Science.
- I lived in many different places. My roommates have always been beautiful people, all of which have taught me a lot.
- I have been homeless for one night.
- I met my current partner with whom I am now happily together for 6 years.
- I picked up programming courses, bouldering, squashing and trail running.
- I have worked as a presenter for the philosophy education I followed.
- I became a much happier, more fulfilled person.
- I learned how a washing machine works.
… and many more things.
The one thing that did not change is that I have always had the desire in one way or another to maintain a blog. But for some reason, I always felt I was too busy. When I recently came across this blog again I decided to continue the work my wiser 19-year-old self had started.
